The Critical Differentiator

The Cellular-Optional Advantage — Disaster Resilience

This is the single most important differentiator for emergency response departments. Cellular networks are consistently degraded or saturated during the exact events that generate the highest emergency call volumes: hurricanes, major fires, mass casualty incidents, and infrastructure failures.

Competing preemption technologies depend on those same cellular networks. ELiMiNATOR® uses a 900 MHz FHSS encrypted radio mesh as its primary link — operating through hurricanes, major power outages, and network saturation events. Cellular is available as an optional enhancement but never required for core preemption.

No mandatory SIM cards. No required data plan. No forced carrier fees. Add cellular where it helps — or run fully on the encrypted radio mesh. Either way, the system costs less to buy and less to run.

📡

900 MHz FHSS Radio

Encrypted frequency-hopping mesh radio for secure, reliable transmission.

🌀

Hurricane Ready

Operates through power outages and network saturation events.

No Tower Latency

Direct vehicle-to-intersection radio. No cloud round-trip required.

💲

Cellular Optional

SIM cards and carrier contracts are never required. Add cellular only when your deployment benefits from it.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the ELiMiNATOR® system require cellular connectivity?

No. The ELiMiNATOR® operates entirely on 900 MHz FHSS encrypted radio. No cellular network, SIM card, or internet connection is required for preemption. Optional WiFi/cellular modules are available for cloud dashboard connectivity but are not required for the core preemption function.

How does ELiMiNATOR® compare to other preemption technologies?

The primary differences are transmission method and disaster resilience. Optical infrared systems use line-of-sight communication — blocked by weather and obstructions. Cellular-based GPS systems depend on carrier network availability during disasters. ELiMiNATOR® uses GPS + encrypted 900 MHz radio, operating up to 3 miles without line-of-sight, in all weather, with optional cellular.

What happens if the GPS signal is weak or blocked?

ELiMiNATOR® vehicles use a dual-positioning system combining GPS with an onboard IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). When GPS triangulation is limited by tall structures or tunnels, the IMU provides inertial positioning backup — ensuring reliable operation in dense urban environments.

Is the system DOT-approved?

SC Teknologies is currently DOT-approved in multiple states, with approvals pending in other states and US territories. We are actively expanding approvals nationwide. Contact us for current approval status in your state and to begin the approval process.

Does switching from a legacy preemption system require replacing all intersection hardware?

No. The ELiMiNATOR® Phase Selector installs directly into existing NEMA TS-2 traffic signal cabinets — the same standard used by most municipal infrastructure in the US. In most cases, existing cabinet wiring and controller connections are reused, reducing installation time and cost significantly.
